Whoever said that “secret jails” were exclusive to President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration?
Kabayan Party-List Rep. Harry Roque, a member of the House Minority, recalled that Duterte’s predecessor, former president Benigno Aquino III, had such facility too during his time.
“Alam mo, naalala mo nung panahon ni Presidente PNoy ay meron ding ‘wheel of torture’ dyan sa Laguna. Yan ay isang secret detention facility rin,” Roque told DZBB in an interview Sunday (April 30).
The politiko gave the statement days after the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) uncovered a clandestine jail cell of the Manila Police District (MPD). The closet-sized prison held 12 people upon its discovery.
For Roque, the question on whether or not there are more such secret prisons need not be asked anymore.
“Sa akin, wag na natin tanungin kung meron. Napatunayan na natin na hindi ito nag-iisa kasi meron talaga.”
In anything, he appeared to want answers on the so-called wheel of torture during the Aquino administration.
“Ang importante, hindi ito dahil sa war against drugs dahil yong wheel of torture ay wala pa tayong war against drugs ay meron nang secret detention facility ang ating kapulisan,” he said. (source)
